Another marketing tip from Suzanne Lieurance, The Working Writer’s Coach
If you’ve recently signed up at www.Twitter.com or www.facebook.com or any of the other social networking sites in the hopes of developing more professional networking contacts, yet you aren’t attracting many followers, here are two simple tips to help you attract all the followers you want or need. You’ll also attract a “targeted” group of followers, and not just anyone and everyone, which is not what you really need for your business.
First, unless your name is a household word, use your business name or something that lets people know right away what type of business you do, for your user name on these sites. For example, on twitter, my user name for my profile is Writers Coach and not Suzanne Lieurance since I want people to know what I do. When people see “Writers Coach” and that is something of interest to them, they are more likely to click on my profile to learn more about me than they would if I just listed my name. Then, they are also more likely to start following me on these social networking sites.
Second, be sure your profile tells about your business. People don’t care that I’m a wife and mother if they’re looking for a writing coach. They want to know what I can do for them, so I use this little tag line for my profile “I can coach you to become a working writer.” Since this is the goal of many people who are like to write, this statement in my profile appeals to them. So, again, they tend to click on my profile and then follow me.
These two simple steps can help you develop more followers for your business on social networking sites. Try them!
