Writing a Book? Stick to a Narrow Focus!

When you’re working on a large writing project like a novel or a nonfiction book, you can feel overwhelmed.
And when you feel overwhelmed, you can have trouble getting started because you just can’t figure out what to do first.
The trick is to keep a narrow focus, even when working on a large project.
If you’re working on a nonfiction book, after you’ve decided on the topic, start outlining the book by creating the table of contents. If you’re working on a novel, start with a character study of your main character.
It’s important to do some overall planning for your book at the start. But then you need to keep a narrow focus as you actually work on the book. Otherwise, that heavy feeling of overwhelm can start to creep back into your very soul again. But when you keep your focus very narrow as you’re working, you’ll be able to eventually finish the entire project.
Try it!
